THE DANIEL FAST

 

Praise the Lord Saints of God,

I want to take this opportunity to thank and praise God for giving us this time to consecrate ourselves with fasting and prayer. I made mention a few weeks ago that it seems we have lost our connection to the power of God in the church. The “Power” is still there but we have lost our connection. This can only be restored by bringing the flesh under…FASTING!

With this in mind, I’m being led to take us on a 21 day fast, better known as the “Daniel Fast.” This is a new experience for me in terms of preparation but I want to go as I feel led, so pray for me! This fast is not something new that I received directly from the Lord. It has been around for a long time plus I wanted to use it for a healing breakthrough in body, mind and spirit.

The Daniel Fast is a biblically based partial fast referenced in the Bible in Daniel 1:12 and 10:1-2. The fast that we will be engaging has the following food categories:

BEVERAGES

  • water
  • almond milk
  • coconut water
  • coconut heifer

VEGETABLES

  • artichokes, asparagus, beets, broccoli, brussels sprouts, cabbage, carrots
  • cauliflower, celery, collard greens, corn, cucumbers, eggplant, green beans
  • kale, leaks, lettuce, mushrooms, mustard greens, okra, onions
  • parsley, peppers, potatoes, radishes, rutabagas, scallions, spinach
  • sprouts, squash, sweet potatoes, tomatoes, turnips, yams, zucchini

FRUITS

  • apples, apricots, avocados, bananas
  • blackberries, blueberries, cantaloupe, cherries
  • coconuts, cranberries, dates, figs
  • grapefruit, grapes, guava, honeydew melons
  • kiwi, lemons, limes, mangoes
  • melons, nectarines, oranges, papayas
  • peaches, pears, pineapples, plums
  • prunes, raisins, raspberries, strawberries
  • tangerines, watermelon

LEGUMES

  • black beans, black-eyed peas, kidney beans, lentils
  • mung beans, pinto beans, and split peas

NUTS & SEEDS (All nuts should be raw and unsalted)

  • almonds, cashews, chia seed, flaxseed
  • pumpkin seeds, sesame seeds, sunflower seeds, walnuts

WHOLE GRAINS

  • Amaranth, barley, brown rice
  • millet, quinoa, oats (groats soaked)

FOODS TO AVOID

  • iodized salt
  • sweeteners
  • MEAT
  • DAIRY PRODUCTS
  • breads
  • pasta
  • flour
  • crackers
  • cookies
  • oils
  • juices
  • coffee
  • energy drinks
  • gum
  • breath mints
  • candy

In the preparation of these recipes, I noticed they allowed the use of “olive oil” and soup stocks. Please do not go beyond what they are recommending for use in the recipes. Thank you!

Fast begins at 6:00 pm

Eat as much as you want of the prescribed foods, any time you want. Drink as much water as you want!
